I need a transparent image to place in the logo spot, that way it will work on all styles.

I'd be interested in a non-transparent logo if you think it'll look good.

I'm horrible with graphics, but I know what I like to see :)

anyone want to take a stab at a temporary logo for us? :Love_Struck_Face:

what if the winner gets 200 points added to their total for the contest

    I just want the words

    "General Forums"

    and if you can fit
"A Place to Talk About Anything"

    that would be cool too.

and I guess it doesn't have to be transparent, if it was a logo in a box or oval with a border around it, that would work too.
I just want something to replace the "vBulletin" or one to make our current logo look a little more professional.

How about this? It's only very simple, but it's transparent. I made it with The GIMP. :)

    I can read it better

how about a silver/white color for it all, you can show it on a dark background as an example

    cool :)

I simply turned it to gray scale:

    awww.newphoria.de_9987_gflogo_3.png

    Better now? ;)

Perhaps I'll make a new one later with shiny metal tones or something.

But I'm no graphics designer, perhaps it's best to wait till one of the other guys comes up with something! ;)

I like that, but it doesn't have much contrast on the dark skins
maybe if the general forums was a solid lighter color

OK, I put the contrast on overdrive for the General Forums letters. It might be that you can't see it here until shown on a darker background (b/c it's white):

well i like the brightness of the first, but i can read the 2nd better
do you have like gloss or something shiny on it? the first one has a slight line running down the Gener to me, and a little on the ums since those letters are so close

I have only ramped up contrast and/or brightness. With these controls, I won't probably get them any better than that. The reason is that as I ramp up contrast, there'll be overly black lines, and when I ramp up brightness it starts to fade first, then glare. I'll see if I can change the brightness using the gamma constant. :)

I couldn't find a gamma correction control, but I tried some other things. Here's two more:
The first uses invert + brightness/contrast changes:

The second has separated colors (b/w) + blur + brightness/contrast changes:

    Howzat? ;)

Here's a colorized version, how do you like that? :)

    Thanks! :)

Here's another version with solid color (sorry I was a bit too slow! ;) ) :

The others might still come up with a better version, I don't care about the points! ;)
