I would have to agree! All are strong, particularly feature-wise.

Yep, and vBulletin is even better, it's 100% customizable.

The other software's come with components that cannot be uninstalled.

I started using free forums with InvisionFree, although it's basically IPB 1.3. I'm not such a fan of the follow up to I.F, Zeta boards. Too clumsy, Too limited etc.. I've never used any of the others. Although most tell me that MyBB is the best.

MyBB isn't the best, that's an opinion, but yes, it's a great software.

I can only imagine what you'd have to say about them - I'm quite sure the remarks would be similar to mine.

No question about it - the design is just plain horrid (and that's all I will say about it).

And it's been called an "upgrade" (from Inivision Free) by many... ridiculous.

I've never tried it, but what are your opinions of Advanced Electron Forum: Electron Inc?

This is actually the first time I've heard of that - I'll have to take a look!

    Ridiculous is the wrong word.

It's contemptible, absurd, and preposterous!

Even better, Tom - however, the only true way of describing how I really feel about the script would require the use of curse words.

    I love being a wordsmith.

Let it all out, Chris... Just censor the words in a way I can understand what the censors imply.

AEF is another poor ripoff. But a poor ripoff of SMF - hey, the name is similar enough and the modifications and such are half the same. I kind of feel like they are trying to steal SMF's users; only because that's the only converter they have. And, I think their envision is to make AEF the more modern and recent version of SMF.

However, the themes are limited. Not half as much themes as SMF offers, modifications or users.

So if my assumption is correct, seems like they'll fail at trying to over run SMF and get their users and possibly make AEF the new and improved SMF.

So is Invision, but whatever floats your boat. IPB3 and vB4 are the new grounds for forum argument. :D
