vBulletin.com is running vBulletin 5 [UPDATE]

Well TECHNICALLY not read-only mode, but it probably should be since they have a giant notice telling you anything you do will be lost.

Going on 3 days now that the notice has been up.

 

I didn't take notice of that yellow announcement then, I don't visit vBulletin anymore and only went then to see what you was on about. 3 days, think last time I was there was at least 3 weeks to a month ago.

 

Have you noticed how many queries it takes? lol

307 queries and 243 AJAX requests (each of those has additional queries) to render the main page (in 63 seconds for me... I thought my browser crashed, but no... just took 63 seconds).

 

Looks like they updated to vb5.

 

What is my prize?

 

A big bunch of money.

Unbelievably so... Actually unusably slow. I'd say it was the huge influx of people looking at the new site... but yeah... only 48 people on right now. lol

Takes about 2 minutes to load the main page. lol

it'll be interesting to see what the public says about it now.

 

Looks like they are now trying to set up backend caching since clearly the servers can't handle the load at the application level. Doesn't seem to be going really well at the moment though (no CSS or anything working yet).

 

I picture the bosses like this right now..

 

As an end user (trying) to play with vBulletin 5, all I can think of is this kid asking, "Is this real life?"

 

Interesting move. So this is vb 5.0.0 RC or Gold?

My posting on vb.com had diminished anyway, but now it has vb5 it will take serious will power to browse it longer than a few minutes.

 

I assume RC since I don't think it's released to users yet.

But yeah... even if it was fast, it's painful to find content you want to read (it's good for finding random content you *don't* want to read though for some reason).

Trying to use it is a test of patience and will power.

 

The home page is soooooooooooo long
does it show a side column or something for others?
I see the forum index that I'm use to, then under I see some tabs, and the default for me was latest threads... well it's listing 40 or 50 I'd say

Too bad vBS has no public stock. It would be interesting to see the value decrease of the company in the next 6-12 months.
