I would like to announce that version 4.1 of vBulletin Publishing Suite and vBulletin Forum is now available. If you have an active vBulletin license, you can download your copy of 4.1 from the vBulletin Members Area at: http://members.vbulletin.com

    Important
Two items that we had envisaged to make available as 4.1
    • Updated Editor - to enable WYSIWYG editing in Webkit browsers (Chrome/Safari)
    • "Flexible URL Mapping"
Are not included in this release. Due to both the editor, and the flexible URL mapping affecting all aspects of our product, development and QA has taken a longer period of time than we had initially envisaged, and we are not sufficiently satisfied with the level of quality of either item to release them as features in their current state. Both items will be made available in future releases. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Here is a list of the major features and/or bug fixes that are included in 4.1
The list of template and file changes can be found below this post.

    Installer
Integrated, inline, single step installer/upgrader, a video of it in action is available here. Helps upgrading a board from vB version 3.5.4+. Supports upgrading via Command-line interface (CLI) for larger forums where a browser times out. Other changes center largely around the stability of the upgrade process and particularly the blog and cms installs which were brought in line with the more robust techniques of the VB installer.
Here are some of the larger install issues that we tackled along with the new install code:

and the release fixes a bunch of bugs that you can read about here if you like.

    This part is exciting!

    Mobile APIs
vBulletin 4.1 includes APIs required to communicate with vBulletin's forthcoming Mobile Applications.
We have comprehensive developer documentation for these API's available here (at time of writing, documentation may not be 100% complete - please note "coming soon" sections)

and then it list a whole bunch more bugs that it fixes :)

We'll update this forum sometime soon. :yay:

    ya nice work vBulletin!!! #FAIL
Guess I'll just start waiting a week before emailing my clients to let them know a new version is out or updating our forum. :(

in otherwords, it's not a security issue, it'll just make your site SLOW!!

This issue has been resolved, and downloads of 4.1 are now re-enabled.

    Please note:
There has been an issue reported with vBulletin 4.1 which may cause substantially increased load to webservers and/or increased page load time. http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBIV-10451
We are currently working on a fix, which we will release as a patch. In the mean time, we have prevented downloads of 4.1 from our members area until we have incorporated a fix into the product. Once a fix has been incorporated and tested, we will release it as a patch and re-enable downloads.

This is not a security concern, and if you have installed 4.1, it should only manifest as increased webserver load and/or page load time.

ha I've been itching to upgrade to 4 over IPB only because my board is entrenched in vB but IB keeps bungling releases.. How can we trust anything they put out?

I wasn't saying the release is bad. If QA were doing their jobs there wouldn't be constant patch releases a day or two after a milestone release like this one.

I wasn't happy about the two patches either. It should't take 2 patches at this point for a major release
