In my experience,it does not seem to make any difference except for people who are members of forums that run on the donation level.

In those forums there have been snide comments directed against those who being a non donor complains that he can not post more than one and hour.Snide comments such as,why not pay up and then you can post more often in the hour?

Post more than once an hour only if you donate? That's ridiculous.

But rank bars shouldn't stop people from posting. Heck, for those gained by post count, that would make people post MORE, not less.

The owner of RightNation does it that way for people who do not donate, and over a certain number of postings (I think it is 500).

Here is a link to the website,it is too busy now to allow navigation to join:

restricting posts that much would put members off, and they would never get to 500 posts, if they do not have the money to donate.

this will surely limit the activity of a forum, they could have so much more activity on their forum if they allowed members to post more often. i cant see a point in that.

a forum i am on once limited it to a post every 10 minutes during a sudden rush of new member cause the mods couldnt keep up with the posts, the regular members did think it was a bit pointless but it didnt stay this way for long.

I'd expect that out of a right wing site.

    He he,

as far I know that is the only forum that use user ranks,to determine how much of the forum capabilities can be used by the user.

X3 They're just pretty images(sometimes ugly), if a user wants one he can take a screenshot of the forum then make one himself, of course that is pretty rude, but ranks images shouldn't matter, they're just images. What should matter is the contribution the user has made to your forum.
