Transition from Member to Moderator

    Think about it...

    You'd have all of these robot-like staff members roaming the boards, moderating each and every single minute "error" and correcting mistakes that aren't necessarily, well, mistakes.

    Interesting ideas. Personally, I make sure they've read a topic about how we expect moderators to behave and how they should moderate then leave them to themselves. If they have any questions, they ask via PM or instant messaging and usually they do. I explain fully.

    They can also ask about what kind of action they should take in a dedicated forum.

    I never really thought of this. I just sort of throw them in the deep end :P

    Hehe. I discovered that if you do that, they just lose interest and don't do their job.

    I have to walk them through the whole process to ease them into their new position. In the end, the more comfortable they are, the more and better they perform.
