Do you think its good to have the thread title repeated in every reply? There is a setting in vbulletin to repeat the title, do you think that should be turned on?

I read somewhere that this isn't good to have on.

Then on .org someone came up with a plugin to have this done...don't know why since it is already an option...but they said it is good for seo. Like I have said I have always read the other way.

I think it's pointless and completely unnecessary, so I always disable it. :)

I don't think there is any SEO benefit to it what-so-ever. Keyword density is a thing of the past and at best it will come off as more spamish and repetitiveness than anything else.

Sometimes it looks nice on themes, but most the time its just extra garbage on already garbage filled pages.

Does anyone actually read those titles above each post?

    I don't like it, it's very irritating.

Its not people I'am thinking about, its google. If the title of the thread has important keywords in it, would it be good to repeat those keywords over and over in the thread.

Actual posts in a thread get very little importance to the ranking of your site. When search engines index, they only really care about the first post. Comments are rather meaningless in the entire scheme of things.

    Wow...I never knew this.

Is it true for IPB, MyBB, SMF etc as well?

It would hold true with all software really. It is more of a hierarchy thing than anything else. I guess you could start each comment or post with a h2 tag but than you dilute the meaning of your headers and the end result would be practically the same.

I've always had ours on and never really thought about it. It is useful in one way for us though... when users go posting in the 'wrong' forum and then we need to delete the posts, we don't delete them, we move them to this one big thread in our Lounge. Having the post titles in there lets you see what thread they came from.
