this question is either good or stupid

i know the avators are 32x32 gifs, but gifs can be animated. on that token, can avators be animated? i was thinking of the following:

of course, i can see how this could get out of hand, and if that's your concern, i'm content to let the whole thing drop

No, animated avatars are currently not allowed.. Generally animated gifs are a bit larger in file size, not to mention we don't need another area of the page (beyond the actual message) jumping out at ya and boggling your eyes out. .

The avatar you created there actually is barely larger than the other one, and doesn't move at all or annoy me. I really wouldn't mind but then everyone will want one. . So I say no at this time.

that's what i figured. i know *i* can keep things simple and understated, but i tend to tastefully start avalanches like that. just curious, is all. and now i know. thx
