Didn't take such a close look but if I understood this that mod correct it just choose an song for the day so the mod is legal but the song you take might not be so if the song doesn't come default on the mod then I don't see why it wouldn't be legal.

The MOD itself is not illegal, however uploading songs to your server without permission from the artist itself same for the radio. However if you find a way to sneak the url of a song off say a site like myspace or playlist then its legit. as long as it is not on your servr you should be legal.

What I am talking about is how if you wish to add songs to it you need to upload them from your PC to your server. I cant imagine many people wanting to use copyright free music with this mod. I myself would want the latest chart music played through it and that would mean me uploading a load of songs to our server unless of course we linked to them externally.

I am quite sure you understood what I meant, of course the mod itself is legal.

Like others have said, the mod itself is legal, its up to how you use it that could be.

If you distribute the songs = illegal. If you own the songs from whatever method you buy them, and simply play them on your site, its probably murky waters and will probably only yield you a DMCA take down notice, to which you'll probably want to comply with.

Playing music which you hold a valid license for on your site, should fall well within the fair-use docterine of copyright laws.

Probably not a good idea to try and administer a Turing test to Ak Worm.

This would be a great mod on a forum for a band or artist who could upload their own music without fear of reprisal, so for that purpose it would be legal. You uploading someone else's music, however... that's how the trouble could begin.

Thats whats a shame. The same with adding music to your videos on YouTube, you end needing to do an audioswap with something that just sounds lame.

The modification itself is perfectly legal, and only poses legal questions if the songs themselves are copyrighted to someone else (rather than yourself or public domain). As for by country... the UK and USA have pretty much the same copyright laws.
