Brandon Tweeted last night that Under 18 Members of GF, would no longer be allowed, and you will only be able to sign up if you are an adult.

As a contributing member who is under 18, I think this should be taken publicly. What are your thoughts?

Brandon, delete this thread, if you really want to. I don't care anymore.

Everybody under 18 is so different that I can't really come up with a definite answer for this, except that age in itself shouldn't really be a factor in this case.
I say: if the person is under 18 and they behave well and are good contributors, then keep them. But, if the under 18 member happens to be very immature and not contribute to the forums nicely, then that may be a reason to ban them.
Simply banning someone because they are under 18 is a bit general in my opinion. I think it would be best to just let them join initially, and see from there what kind of a member they are. If they turn out to be no good, then banning would be in order.
Keep the good 18- members, and ban the not-so-good members if needed.
I'm just curious though, just asking- what was the reasoning behind this anyhow? Was it something like safety, immaturity, etc?

For the record, I never said I was going to enforce this on Twitter, I was actually asking for advice but since you made the poll, I'll cast my vote. :)

I had to laugh at Shawn's reply though. It was hillarious, and so true as well.

As a forum owner I've dealt with both kinds of teenagers. A few were great members and a few were gigantic pains in the asses but they were dealt with your our infractions process like any other member would be.

One of the things that annoyed me perhaps the most is once other members knew we had younger people around some members ran around complaining about anything that wasn't PG-13. My reply always was if you would hear or see it on prime time TV it's okay for here.

Unless you're regularly posting adult stuff I don't see any reason not to have younger members perhaps you might need to give them a little more of your time if they are immature but so long as they follow the rules what's the big deal?

Then of course there's always the argument that you cannot verify anyone's age online -- I could be 12 years old with somebody else's picture - Nobody would know the difference.

I agree with Panache87 and Big Dan. If they are immature then ban them but if they are behaving and giving great responses to forums then keep them. I have had my share of immature people on forums. they are just annoying.

I voted for yes, but I really wanted to vote for no. Here's the thing, there are some people in the forums that do not think about their posts and this being an anything goes forums, it's going to be easy to toe the line. It's more of their safety. Methinks, u/18s could have their own forums where moderators and users are aware, even mindful of what they post.

I agree with what Zarathrusta commented. That is how I felt knowing I would not be mindful of what I would be typing.

The only problem I see with having minors on this board is the fact that many of us like to talk about pornos and mature stuff that would just get laughed at by the juniors.

I don't see how you can really keep under 18's out. They can always lie about their age. But I guess you can try to implement an over 18 section that you can only access under administrator discretion.
