Try the past 6 months. This all started with the leak in May/June, and them claiming it was a fake. This is something I faced a while back, and all I can tell you is that it's something you have to address on your own. Thankfully, I renewed both owned licenses a few months back, extending the date to late next year and early '11, but I did that when I could do it for $40/license. The style isn't the only thing that's wrong with the company, as you've stated earlier. There is a huge ethical and moral issue involved here.
For me, It's $130 now to upgrade. I'm not certain when vb4 will go Gold. I don't think anyone does. I might feel a little better if I knew something like within the month or before EOY. Nonetheless, looking forward to next point release of v5 18-24 months -- $175 upgrade. Then again 18-24 months for v6, going to assume same upgrade price of $175. However, I would conservatively tack on an extra 20% to those numbers just in case....for inflation. I'm a hobby site. I'm not bent on the price increase per se, aggressive growth of a company is 20-25% per year. whoa?!! What is it here for IB/vB? I get and understand going to an upper tier, enterprise level or class for this product. It can't be beat in terms of the support and vborg community (assuming it stays strong even currently or grows along with). So for me...I don't require the extra Suite cosmetics. Moreover, I want to see and Gold vB4 version that will knock my socks off such that my confidence is regained such that I can justify the expenditure. I thank everyone here for their insight, input, issues, concerns. I am very appreciative of how active this community of admins are, whether it is vB related or not. Sincerely,
Wake up and smell the quarterly reports. There is no way on earth vBulletin Internet Services is waiting until 2012 to rake in another set of licensing fees. Just like age, many people say version upgrades are "just a number." ROFLMAO
I am just going to cling to Kearo, because I too felt physically sick at the sight of the new style on vb.com and the thought of how much work this is all going to be has me curled into a fetal position.
After this past year I hope you are correct I know I plan to fully develop for this version and have already started that process (which is going better than when we first started the alpha testing).
I see your signature... Are you the guy who did that awesome vBulletin to Invision Power Board theme - template conversion tutorial?
