Random PM's?

This just happened to me...

...It's kind of wierd. I do not know. Random and such, has stuff like this [wierd, random, out of normality] have happened to you on a PM?

 

I've received some pretty strange private messages over the years... mostly in foreign languages.

 

Is that a member that has made real posts on your forum prior to this? I see he has 88 posts so I can't imagine they are all spam-bot posts.

This was on MyBB.net... I do not know who they are!!

 

It could be a random member just wanting to "friend" you... as weird as that may sound.

Well, I read through his posts and all I can gather is that he might want me to make him a theme for free??? Who knows.

 

That's possible - let's hope it's nothing more due to the certain "creep" factor.

 

Do his posts make any less sense than his PM?

 

He messaged me again saying it was for friendship, I think I should take my picture off there... Another one messaged me. @_@ Seriously, this is wierd.

 

I think he may have a crush on you.

 

I'm not going to lie, that is very weird indeed and seems a bit iffy to suddenly happen... twice.
Maybe you should forward it to the MyBB staff.

 

Make it three. I just did, the other two who messaged me had little to no posts. All wanting to be "my friend" though the last one started speaking to me about graphics.

 

That's suspicious - if it were only this one member sending you these messages, I wouldn't worry. Now that you mention that there are a few, that's a bit off.

 

=\ A bit?? I think it's the same member, for some reason. The way they type looks extremely similar. He's a PM spammer much?? The Mittal account sent me 3 messages 1 responding, 2 responding to my messages but they looked wierd and out of place.

 

Have you added all of his usernames to your "ignore" list?

 

Yeah, I just did. That was wierd though. Never had this happen before. Though I still forwarded all the usernames plus the Pm's to the staff.

 

Excellent - let's see how they respond to such a situation. It's always an annoyance when it comes to dealing with these members.

 

I really don't get the purpose of PMíng someone for "friendship" or "just to talk" on a community that's all about favors and developing. As far as the conversation with Mittal, he/she was asking me about a theme they had released, I told him/her that I made my own themes and started spamming me with quoted messages. The other users just were spamming me with quoted messages. =\

 

I delete pms such as these and I have had a fair few of them. I just haven't got time to endulge people so it's always left ignored and deleted promptly. Normally, and from experience I find these type of pms to be an ice breaker for the person invloved who sent them and wanted to ask a question or ask for something (normally in my case .psds, style support, or something else). Had they not beaten about the bush and asked the original question which may have been anwsered and/or pointed them to a thread in the forums with the solution they would have been accomodated.

I also get other random Pms and those like related to the type I mention also get ignored and then deleted.
