Description:Its a forum dedicated to the care, info, breeding of plecos. These are a type of catfish that come mostly from the Amazon rivers/basins.
There are over 400 different types, and most have differing care requirements.

    Other Info/Points of Interest:
Free gallery, where we hope to end up with a good collection of photos which would prove invaluable especially for identifying some of the similar looking plecs

    Wonderfully designed site.

I love the color scheme along with the header image.

However, I would place the "Top 10 Stats" on top of the "What's Going On" boxes.

For your genre, your site seems to be fairly active.

Unique niche indeed, good luck with the site.

It is okay but really doesn't scream Pleco to me. The design is a little generic to represent an aquarium site to me. Also not a big fan of three column sites. makes everything look crowded. I realize that is how vBAdvanced ships but I think it should be customized a little more. I would suggest focusing on the pictures with bigger "thumbnails" and providing a look into the lives of these fresh water fish.

I would move the vBadvanced portal to your root directory and the forum index to /forum. :)

First Impression: Ehh, looks ok.... colors are a bit..blah.. a bit boring in my opinion... Also, what is a Pelco!?

    Forum Content
Quantity of Forums: Quite a few, though in the first forum that says 'Introduction' wouldn't it be the 'General' or 'Welcome!' forum? Why is it named 'Introduction'' ?

Forum Content: I see, Pelco is a fishy~ Pretty good, I saw some threads regarding the health and care of these animals and it seemed you guys were pretty well informed and were informing your audience well.

    Forum Design:
Favicon: I did NOT know what the forum was about, the favicon didn't help either, you should get a more fishy favicon.

On, Off icons: They are...boring... something more fun would have been ok, you're site is about fishes, animals, something animal/water related would be good.

Forum Design: To be honest the design doesn't yell 'FISHY!!!!' to me or anything, seems kind of bland to be a fish forum or an aquatic creature forum at that, a more fun vivid blue with more graphics would help. The logo doesn't say much either and in my opinoin the logo is too small. Vivid blue, some watery graphics, water effects, splash effects would look awesome on that kindof site. At the moment the template is boring...

These stars look like they have white matte http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/images/ranks/stars_yellow.gif changing them to the color of yoru forum would look Ok. The post icons are boring as well, but they look ok, not that bad.

Overall Opinion: Posting and member wise the forum is doing ok. Other than that the forum design does not motivate me to stay, it's a bit boring to me a aquatic animal site. Maybe spice it up a bit? Other than that, you're doing great.

[PS: I have HORRIFIC phobia to fishes{And to almost all other animals}... sorry if I couldn't go through your gallery and such.... I was about to start crying.]

I didn't even notice the typo, lol. That's even better! (I was laughing about the fish part.)

    Also, marked as reviewed. :)

I have to agree, it just didn't scream out "fishy!" to me either. Maybe something like ForumMonkey's Tsunami template? (Or would that be too cliched?)

ok thanks guys. comments are appreciated:)

What else could i use to make the homepage? other than vba

I also do want to start getting some species profiles up.

Agree that the site looks 'bland', we have bought onboard a guy that can do icons etc but he is in the middle of moving house:(

i'll have a look at those themes, we joined vbskinworks and have one more theme we can get free, maybe something a bit louder that we can customise.

So that when the url is typed out to include forum it goes to forum and just the site name goes to portal?

    Correct.

plecoplanet.com would take you to the portal.
plecoplanet.com/forum would take you to the forum.

This is a good question. Because we are in the process of actually revising our review system, I'm going to say go for it (if we don't have our new criteria up before you want to make a new thread). However, once a new sticky is posted, we'll let you know there for the future.
