Wow! I think I have found an answer to so many of my queries and doubts. I have just now downloaded the PDF and do hope that I would find it great. I am ill and at home since 2008 and do keep myself with small website development assignments. Though these are not regular. I have been trying my hands with forums too and plan to come up with a forum sometime in 2013. I do hope that the guides on the PDF would help me make some money.

Thank you for picking it up, SimplySidy. I believe it will be helpful to you and will help you to gain a deeper understanding of the options that exist for forum monetization. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

This is awesome. If there's anything Patrick doesn't know about forums it isn't worth knowing.

I've been a fan of Patrick's since long before he became famous. I started my first forum with phpbb and phpbbhacks was still new but I went back repeatedly to find new hacks. At the time the phpbb forum admin had a bit of a chip on their shoulders when you asked about making changes but Patrick did not.

Is there a hardcover version in the works? I like to put things on my shelves.

Thank you for your kind words and long term support, bigbigfan. That means a lot.

I know what you mean, I love to have books on shelves, too. Unfortunately, there is no print version planned. We've discussed the possibility of maybe printing some up to give away at conferences, etc., but part of my agreement with Skimlinks is that it won't be sold. Not to say it will never happen, but it is not planned. I'll keep your feedback in mind though if that should become a possibility.

    Thanks again,

    Patrick

@ iFroggy. Many thanks for making this available and for free.

You obviously put a lot of work into this and it is appreciated.

That is very kind of you, Big al. :) I really appreciate you saying that. When we were putting the project together, we wanted to release a great book. Not just a book that was "great for a free ebook," but a great book that people would pay for - and then give it away. I wanted it to last beyond the "retweet cycle," as I called it. The fact that we're now a month away from being one year old, and people are still talking about it and deriving value from it, means that we were able to accomplish that. I'm grateful for that.

    Thanks again,

    Patrick

    You are very welcome.:grouphug:

People tend to criticize others when they do wrong (Me? ) ;) so it is only fair that when someone does the right thing and helps the community in this way, that they receive a pat on the back and some recognition for helping.

The fact that it is free and can help site owners is commendable and greatly appreciated.

Although I do not use any money making systems on my site, as we are an anti-fraud site and do not wish to be perceived as beholden to anyone.
I have no objection to people who take the risk and put up their own funds to start a site, getting some money back to help pay the running costs. Nice work!

Well well well... I have to say that you have opened up my eyes to so many different adverting methods rather than just plain banner ads from Adsense or Affiliates.

The level of detail that Patrick goes into on each method is ace and is a sure way to help any Forum owner make the most of their sites revenue!

Highly Recommended read so get yourself a drink (cup of tea - yum!) and site down somewhere comfy and get reading - What have you got to loose???
