Page cannot be displayed

I get this white, annoying page a lot often when I'm surfing through this forum. Just out of the blue, "Page cannot be displayed"
THen I play around with it- refresh, stop, refresh, stop, refresh, stop, then click on a button- and it MAY work an may not. And it's only this page

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Would this happen to be at all related to the 'Cannot Find Server' messages I tend to get rather often when posting?

Speaking, of which, I just got another one on this exact thread. Doh.

 

I'm not experiencing any of this anyplace.. Just keep me updated, with examples if at all possible.

I just got a "page cannot be found" error when 1st clicking the link to this thread.... after I clicked back and clicked it again it was fine.... should not be a problem with bandwidth as it is the middle of the night over there, and there are not many people looking at the site of the moment.

I, too, get this problem. It happens randomly either from clicking in a forum, thread, or reply. I just think what is happening is that a premature timeout is getting hit. Just my thought.

Well atleast I'm not alone...something must be happening. Not like it's not impossible to get around (just keep trying), but it's annoying

Still haven't hit one myself, but keep me posted.. Definatly could be some kind of timeout setting somewhere on the hosts server.

I got a fair amount of these yesterday too. However, I can't give you url's, because a) I didn't make note of them, and b) they would work eventually if I kept trying.

I'm wondering if it was maybe a little server glitch at your ISP, Alien.

And here I was, trying the forward, down, forward + down, punch combo. It *would* explain the weird alien image popping up saying "Fatality", though... .

On a serious note, I haven't had this particular problem - at least, I haven't had it since the new site went up. If it had happened before, I don't remember it.

I have this happen to me on all kinds of sites. I'm pretty sure it's a bug in IE5 and up, where it times out absurdly quick when doing DNS resolution, and just instantly says the server cannot be found, but if you were to refresh the page or re-enter the URL, it would bring up the page properly.
The problem is hardly limited to this site.

Hey, for anyone this has happened to, what kind of modem are you using? I may (probably) be wrong, but this could affect it

I'm on the T1 at work, and it happens to me with a moderate frequency. It's an issue where IE looks and gives up immediately. It has nothing to do with lag or latency due to dial-up.
