Less or more

I have spoken to a few seo experts recently about the optimisation of forums and all of them have said to remove the forum descriptions on the front and opt for only the forums title to be present on the index. Do you think its better to have longer keyphrase rich descriptions and keyword rich titles or just keyword rich titles and no descriptions?
