Is photoshop necessary for web design?

I do think photoshop is good for templates then what i normally do is put html and css onto the template so it functions properly, normally though it isn't me who does all the graphic related stuff since i'm not one for that.

 

Of course not! I still think some kind of image designing program, such as Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI, or even GIMP is immensely helpful. However, even that is not necessary by any stretch.
