    Hi all,

    As an enthusiastic iPhone user, I was very pleased to see an application appear in the App Store that acts as a "container" for Online forums such as this one (it can currently work with phpBB or vBulletin based forums. AdminAddict is vBulletin based).

    The app is called Tapatalk and can be purchased for $2.99 in the App Store. We have no affiliation with Quoord Systems (the developer), we had to buy the app like anyone else. But we have configured AdminAddict to work with Tapatalk, and I wanted to give you a walk through.

    When you launch Tapatalk, you can find AdminAddict quickly either by a search for "admin" in the Search tab, or by selecting the Network tab and choosing the "Computer and Internet" category:

    You will only need to navigate to AdminAddict the first time; once you select AdminAddict, it will appear in your Favorites tab (see the five tabs at the bottom of the screenshot). Very nice.

    After you select AdminAddict, you will see buttons to login to the site. Click that, and enter your user name and password. Then you'll see the familiar AdminAddict categories:

    From there, you can click to drill down to the specific forum in that category:

    Then ultimately to specific threads. You will notice that you don't have all the information available from viewing the site in a browser (such as original poster, number of views, number of posts, and so on), but you do have a very clean list of topics, along with a short preview.

    When you click into a thread, you'll notice that nearly all UBB formating is not translated into the Tapatalk interface. However, you do still get quoted text, url links, images and avatars. You're welcome to use UBB commands in your posting, however; you just won't be able to see the results in Tapatalk.

    Be careful clicking links; they will take you out of Tapatalk and open in Safari. Unfortunately, Tapatalk doesn't remember your last location, so when you re-open Tapatalk, you'll have to start from the beginning.

    If you want to add a response to the thread, just click the Reply button in the top right. This gives you a menu where you can choose to reply, to refresh the list of posts, etc. If you want to reply to a specific post, tap on the post; a Quote button will appear over the post that you tapped:

    This brings up the standard iPhone text entry screen, either with or without quoting, depending if you clicked reply or quote. As you can see by the four tabs at the bottom of the screenshots, Tapatalk also lets you read and write private messages (from the Inbox tab), view the latest posts, posts you're subscribed to, etc. You also can view a very basic personal page with links to some of your own posts.

    All in all I find Tapatalk to be a very nice, clean way to browse AdminAddict, which is why we wanted to offer it to anyone with an iPhone who wants to spend $2.99 on the app (again, we're in no way affiliated with them, we're not trying to sell you their app!) It doesn't have all the features of the web version, but it's also formatted very cleanly without needing to pinch to magnify the page or the like. This may or may not be an option you care for, but it was important to us to offer it to you as an option.

    Enjoy!

    The installer sent me this, any idea what direction we need to take?

    This is from his email.

    It is the first time I had to install it, but it seemed to register all okay on their servers when you run a check on their website.

    I did not setup the directory, because there is 2 options - I am not familiar with Tapatalk, therefore I would suggest checking their forums. The info on your domain is as follows:
    * Verify Installation Status - Installed!
    * Publish to Network Directory
    * Publish to Network as Search Only

    The Publish links will require clicking on to submit the site. Login details I posted in the main message earlier. There is a notification regarding time, which states roughly 48 hours.

    * Publish to Network Directory
    This is what you want, as it puts you in the directory so you can be found. The other method hides you unless someone search specifically for your name. You will need a logo during the publishing process. 90*90pixels.
    * Verify Installation Status - Installed!
    This line means tapatalk can communicate with the server ok.

    I've installed tapatalk on most of my forums and I've found new members via it. I'd seriously consider it on your forum as they do have a free version for the general browsers of information, which then a percentage of always become regular registered members, of which a percentage then buy the full version. A win:win:win situation is even better than a win:win one. ;)

    I can browse the site just fine, but once I try and login I get the "this admin needs to update their plugin" screen. :(
    I really wish I could use tapatalk on AA, I would post more :waiting: :cool:
