Since some time in 2006. Forums were a bit different then, I still remember when vBulletin was actually good software.

I've been running a forum since about 2001.
I wish I know then, what I know now though ;)

Now that I think about it, I wish the same thing. It's so great knowing so many things now. Learning is such a powerful tool and I can't believe some people don't like to learn new things and tactics.

Since 1986, when I was 16. Forums were called BBS's back then (Bulletin-Board Systems), and we dialed into them using acoustic couplers or modems (if we had access to them). :)

I've been a member of forums for around 13 years. The longest membership I have on a forum I still use is wht where my account was created 2006.

I think it was somewhere around 2001-02 for me on the old Gamers.com before 1up.com

Members could make their own boards and anyone could post with HTML. I think originally they even allowed members to post Javascript.

I've been on forums since 2008 I think. I started to like them when I joined a huge forum about a game on Facebook called Pet Society (hey, don't judge me, I was young and stupid). I then found other similar forums and that kind of inspired me to create my own.

I don't remember how long it's been probably around 8 years if I had to take a guess. I more seriously got into "foruming" or managing my own forum within the last year.

Ya, Pet society is a virtual pet game I run a community that talks about games that are similar to that. I won't judge you because I think pet games are a great form of entertainment. I also believe that @bauss is currently developing his own pet game.

It's has to be around 10 yrs or so when I started my first board and it was cgi based. I do remember that IPB wasn't around as of yet.

Some people (especially hardcore gamers) think those kind of games are lame. I think that no matter what kind of game it is, if it keeps you entertained, it's a good game. Pet Society did become boring after a while though, but even though I left their forum, I still remained in other forums.

@bauss, what kind of game are you developing?

More than 10 years. Started posting on some martial arts forums and got hooked for life. Then I started my own 'gigs'

Abimon, it's going to have a lot of similarities to pokemon, but it's a virtual pet site. We only have one pet done at the moment so we're in the very early stages of development, and at this pace it'll take over a year to complete the game.

I started blog commenting in 2009, but I switched to forum posting about a year ago. I like the idea that I can start my own topics while on forums, which is something I can't do while blog commenting.

Oh geez, I don't know. Let me think about it.

I guess I have been on forums for roughly a decade now? Holy cow, that makes me feel old, lol.

Crap, longer than that. I just went back to my first forum and the date I actually signed up was over 10 years ago....and before they required people to register, I had been a guest there, lurking for quite a while. So I guess I have been foruming in general for closer to 12 years now.

Man, I first purchased Virtualpetlist's domain back in 2004. The domain name will be officially ten years old on November 4th.
