Half question, half suggestion

I usually post this kind of thing to Movies and DVD, because that's where we *used* to post these types of things.

I've been doing a lot of research with home theater and stereo lately, and we used to be able to openly discuss this in in DVD when it used to focus more on home theater. Now, the Movies and DVD forum is more of a collective discussion about cimema, and not so much about home theater and stereo.

My question is: in the current forum setup, where would we post questions and items related to stereo and home theater that aren't appropos to either Tunes, Boob Tube, or Movies and DVD?

My suggestion is: Can we look into having a forum for such discussion, such as Home Theater, or can we modify one of the current forums, like Movies and DVD, to accomodate some of those topics more easily?

 

IMO.. posting it in Movies and DVD would be appropriate

Since we're both around from the time that the DVD forum included home theater questions, it would make sense that we would think it would go there, but for someone newer than us, it hardly seems like the appropriate place for a question about stereo components.

The forum description for Movies and DVD reads:

Stereo components such as CD changers really have nothing to do with DVD or movies, but would be appropriate in a forum that mentions home theater.

Does that clarify my dilema with the way things are currently set up?

 

You're right, it no longer seems appropriate to post home theater questions under movies and dvds, but that is where we've done it in the past. There could be a hardware forum were we can talk about speakers, chainsaws, receivers and routers. :lol: Or maybe we could enlarge the computer hardware forum, since home theater equipment does technically contain many processors and/or computers. Or possibly just enlarge the movies and dvds to include hardware talk.

Then there is always the watercooler.

Bottom line is that there is some interest in the topic and I don't know where those posts should go either.

 

maybe add it in the descriptions of Music & movies and dvds to include equipment? doesn't seem practical rite now to add another forum

 

Hmm let me sleep on this.. Perhaps since the advent of subcategories we can put a home theater sub category under movies & dvd maybe...

That good? Otherwise I can broaden the movie & dvd forum I guess...
