Agreed - thank you for the useful feedback Peter. Now I know how to make 2014 the ForumCon you will attend! ;) I am happy to hear at least we are on the right tracks with Vlad and the speed networking... ( especially since this is my favorite session of the day...)

IMHO, the purpose is to promote Viglink and a select group of friends.

Maybe we can get VB to organize it, so there will be few years grace before you need to re new your passport. :cautious:

vBulletin's John McGanty talks the talk but the gulf between his vision of vBulletin and the software in reality is large enough to swallow up a small universe. Or perhaps it's all just 'coming soon'™.

Forums haven't evolved at all, largely because the majority of forum owners don't want forums to evolve.
vB5 demonstrates the market for the evolution of forum software.
Most forum owners just want a forum that works the same way they worked a decade ago.
I think vBulletin 3.8x is still the ideal forum concept for the vast majority of forum owners.

I'm happy that there are a lot of people with thoughts like that around, it makes it easier for me to outdo the competition, especially when I'm starting new forums in a field with existing established ones.

You're not "outdoing" anyone. There's a niche for the old way and there's a niche for the new way.
If there weren't an audience for so many different types of forums there wouldn't be so many different types of forums.
The only members you're going to obtain from forums that do things the old way are the ones who never cared for the old way.

I see no value in forumcon. If there was value it was when it was new and allowed many different forum owners to attend. Now a ton of forums that interest me are gobbled up by iB and vS so I have no interested.

    Thanks anyways.
