Forum Suggestion: In The News...

How about a forum for news postings and current events?

I only suggest this because I see a lot of people posting news messages, and this would be a good place for discussion of current events.

What do you guys think?

I'm sorry..I kept meaning to read this and just now got around to it. That sounds like a good idea to me. I don't know much about what's going on out there (I have my own little mth world), but it sounds like it'd be interesting

This forum will be added tomorrow.

As for any further feature/content changes, they will be on hold while we go through a 'freeze' period on all NEW features until the new site is up.

Feel free to make suggestions in the meantime, all ideas will be considered.

Why's it confusing? I thought I'd suggested a news forum, Alien said he didn't recall that, so I found what I said about it (which wasn't suggesting one after all...) and posted it with a link to said thread...

Wow, twaz is thorough. I missed that.

I think I'll most likely keep it a seperate forum for news postings.

We really do get alot of those, it will take a while to move them there too. Ack!

I'm wondering something though, some forums like Science have most of it containing news postings and very little 'discussion'. What do we do there?

Yeah I think it'd be better being separate too...maybe make science science and news?

Semi-related thought: How do we handle issues regarding news postings in forums where they are topical?
Ie. Science news in Science, Tech news in General Tech, Sports news in Sports, etc.

Should ALL news posts just go into In The News, or do they belong in their previously established forums?

Now THAT's a good question, though I would think that if it's tech news or science news it'd be fine in science or tech...

So, basically, if it's relevant to a particular forum, it should be placed in that forum, and In The News is for discussion of current events and such...

One more question: If a piece of, say, Tech news were posted to In The News, would it stay there or be moved? After all, it's topical to both.

why don't we just not have a in the news section.. since i'm guessing 95% of the news stories can fit some where.. and the other 5% can just go in watercooler????

I haven't decided yet, been working on more pressing matters.

Should we pursue it, or skip this?
