When viewing a forums do you like to see what the forum contains by either a long description or a few words?

This one has bugged me for a while.

I try to keep it short and sweet, except for the ones meant to display info to guests..

but either way, it doesn't matter, most of the new members I have encountered on my forum don't even bother to read the descriptions. It is why I have to spell things out for them.

When making a description I try to make it in in the middle of long and short, just long enough as to make it sound interesting and want to make the persons visit.
