    XenForo Enhanced Search

In our previous development update, we talked about our "big board search" system. We are now ready to release XenForo Enhanced Search, designed to give significantly better search performance and additional search options to your users.

First and foremost, it is built on top of elasticsearch, which is in turn built on top of Lucene. This gives excellent performance, even with millions of pieces of content. Elasticsearch allows nearly infinite scalability and redundancy by silently allowing searches to be run across multiple servers.

Additionally, you benefit from a very small stopword list and no minimum word length, allowing nearly any search to return meaningful results.

Elasticsearch also provides support for returning results based on how relevant they are to your search. You can select relevancy ordering on the advanced search page.

XenForo Enhanced Search has been running on XenForo.com for an extended period of time, so you've probably used it already.

XenForo Enhanced Search will be made available for purchase next week (the week of January 16th). It will cost $50, with an update-and-support renewal cost of $10. Add-on renewal costs are linked to your XenForo license renewal, meaning that all purchased add-ons will be renewed with your license. (For clarity, this means that with XenForo Enhanced Search, your license renewal would currently be $40 + $10.)

    XenForo Resource Manager

To improve our add-on and resource sections, we will be installing the XenForo Resource Manager on the XenForo.com forums by the end of January 2012. At that point, all releases will need to be done via the resource manager, but threads in the existing forums will be maintained for a period to allow a transition.

The goal with the resource manager is to release it as an add-on to our customers. We will be gathering feedback, making improvements, and fixing bugs with the resource manager after it's installed on the XenForo.com forums. Release plans and pricing will be announced at a later date.

    XenForo 1.2

XenForo 1.2 development is also under way. XenForo 1.2 will continue to add heavily requested features, improve the system for add-on developers, and workaround more complex bugs.

We will announce more about XenForo 1.2's new features and changes over time. While we have mentioned that 1.2 will include a mobile style, here's another teaser of a new feature:

We are aiming to release a beta of XenForo 1.2 sometime in the second quarter of this year.

I'm really interested in seeing the final results of the Resource Manager,
I'm already working on a few plans which I'm going to use it for.

    $50 is not pricey, ;)

The XFES is for big boards ( hosted on dedicated servers or a "powerful" VPS ) , by the way.
If you're paying the price for a dedicated server, I'm sure the forum is making enough money to pay its bills while $50 will be a walk in the park,
