As I said above, that's inaccurate.

The first thing that happened was the database crashed. There was no issue with DNS or nameservers until almost 24 hours later.

Not really. He got both the cause and the timeline wrong.

There is nothing inaccurate about what I said.

The database crashing is irrelevant to what I posted, at the time I checked, their DNS was as dead as the dodo, what happened before that matters not to my posts - and what does it matter to you anyway, my reply was not even too you, and last I checked you had no involvement with vbseo.

It's not irrelevant Paul. You know full well that it's not unusual for any server, once a resource peaks and crashes one of the services, unless action is taken to reboot or otherwise intervene that crash will spread to other services including those that manage DNS records and nameservers.

It was not a DNS issue. Eventually it included a DNS issue but that was simply not the timeline.

Is it normal to have the DNS and web server on the same box?

This is the best thread ever. vBulletin support guy talking shit to a support guy of a dying software company that built itself off of vBulletin.

Mean while only one of the two owners of the dying software company that built itself off vBulletin is talking. The other one is sending me a Google+ message telling me he won't stay silent and asks me if I want to skype about all these issues.

I'm going to watch The Social Network tonight just so I can be reminded that this can all happen on a much larger scale and they will make a movie out of it.

Probably not. If you don't own your own server, typically they reside on a separate hard drive.

But we don't know that actually happened, although it's not a bad supposition. I think most people running their own servers would have redundant backup servers for all critical functions, like Digitalpoint.

Highly possible the issue is related to no space left on hdd. The current server is 3-4 years old ;)
Once hdd space ran out , first MySQL stops and then full server becomes unresponsive.

That will also cause fail of the DNS servers.

    No one is wrong ,.

My bet will be on this scenario

I'm sure that will all be covered in Juan's promised announcement. I'm sure it must be coming soon, right? ;)

Actually, vbseo.com appears to be offline right now. fanversation.com is still up though. So not all of the Crawlability sites are offline.

I've never heard of that fan site, but seeing how it's only a splash page.. I wouldn't consider it to be "up"..lol

Not functional, but "up" as in opposed to: "I can no longer pay my server bill, and everything is offline". :)

Besides, I think Fanversation became Topify. So maybe they just let Juan keep the domain.

Why, signal500, whatever do you mean? Should we start at post 1 and work forward from there. :)

Guys, just a heads up. This is probably the start of a popcorn moment.
