AdminAddict Grand-Opening Contest: Free vBulletin and IPB license

:hello: fellow Addicts! We are pleased to announce our AdminAddict.com Grand Opening Contest.
This is a posting and referring contest and will last for three months, starting at the time this announcement is made.

Participating in the contest is easy: create threads, make posts, and refer new users (who become active). Certain actions result in your earning of specified point values. At the end of the contest, the member with the most points is the winner.

The quickest way to rack up the greatest amount of points is to refer new users who actively contribute! This is our biggest goal here - get new registrations.

Point-values:

• Create new thread: [strike]10[/strike], [strike]20[/strike] 40
  
• Reply to a thread (50 characters minimum): [strike]5[/strike] 10
  
• Refer a new user that makes at least 10 posts: [strike]50[/strike] 100
  
• Sign up as a user who has been referred by another member: 10
• Purchase a paid subscription and earn 10 points for every dollar of the package value. For example, purchasing the $15 6-month option will yield 150 points.
• Submit an article, tutorial, tip, or other post for use on our blog: 25

Rules:

The rules are fairly simple, so we suspect violations won't be an issue. However, any user found to be in violation of the rules will be disqualified from the contest.

• Make your posts worthwhile. Don't go on a posting spree of useless messages that you wouldn't normally contribute.
• Don't create multiple accounts to earn referral points.
• Posts in the Miscellaneous, WemasterAddict, Introductions, Announcements and Suggestions forums are not counted.
• For a referral to count, the referred user must:
  • Enter your username in the "Referrer" field when registering
  • Make at least ten posts on the forum.
• Every user is eligible to participate (excluding the Staff Team)

The Prizes:

Here's what you are working towards!

• First place
  • vB or IPB license of your choice.
  • Custom skin to go with the license
  • 6 months of reseller hosting
  • Domain name.
    
• Second place
  • vB or IPB license of your choice
  • Domain name
• Third place
  • Domain name

The first place winner will be receiving essentially everything needed to start a new website.

FAQ

• Q: Are the vBulletin & IP.Board licenses owned or leased?
  • A: The licenses are whatever you prefer. We assume you'd want owned licenses, and we're perfectly fine with purchasing them.
• Q: Who is the hosting through?
  • A: We are providing a reseller hosting account through our VPS, which is provided by WiredTree.
• Q: What if we don't want the prizes?
• Q: Can prizes be exchanged for their cash value?
  • A: If you are not interested in claiming your rightful prizes you have several options:
    1. By default, the prizes will be passed down the ranks of winners. i.e. Unwanted prizes from first place will be passed on to second place and so on.
    2. You can keep the prizes and re-gift them to a member of your choice, or even give them away on your own website. Keep in mind though, there are transferring policies set forth by each company that you must abide by.
    3. You can exchange the prizes for a different forum add-on of equal value. For example, if you wanted a vBAdvanced Links Directory, GARS, and a few other premium add-ons, you could give up the Custom Skin and we will purchase these add-ons.

As mentioned before, this contest will last for three months and therefore ends on August 25, 2009.
Throughout the contest, we will periodically post a ranking list of the top 10 users with the highest point-values.

Why such a long contest? Just curious....

 

Because usually, with short contests, there is one short burst of activity and it's really a close race to win the prize. Anybody can take the lead at any second.

But with a long contest like this, the truly dedicated members who visit frequently and post often will be closer to winning - rather than somebody who makes 100 posts in 5 days or something. This way nobody can just jump in, make a hundred posts and then be the winner.

 

I think its a good contest, even if i don't think I am going to win it.

ok I see the logic, thanks for explaining it to me.
I asked because I've seen such lengthy contests lose momentum, and sometimes actually die out before the contest is even over. I'm trusting this will not be the case.

I will be updating the point values in this thread periodically. I'll probably keep it all in the first post and just edit it everytime I decide to refresh the scores.

If at any time you guys would like an update, I'll be glad to get one posted up.
