Dumb Q: Does it matter which ads we click on to help support soup financially (home page, forums, etc)?

When checking who's here I've seen that there is a way to check out "new threads" - how is this done?
Yesterday there were pictures/links for alien stuff and folding@home. Where did they go? Am I just inhaling too much wood stain these days?...
