tell me about it, half the time I just don't bother because I don't have the energy, not to mention the fact that their rules get stricter & stricter regarding bumping :(

    +1 to both your comments
I don't see the point of updating every day or week just to be like.. we now have this many users/post.. I'd be more interested if the updates would be "we've added this great thing" or just site news in general

Yep; that's the only time I ever updated mine...otherwise there's no point. Unfortunately, it always got passed over by the constantly-updating threads. >.>

I just don't get it. I know it's hard to start a new forum but these admins that post on 20 promotional forums a day in these type of threads just to update their post count.. seems desperate

I think post like this is 100% spam and degrading to the forum..

Yup; definitely. I don't want to tell people to check out my site if I haven't done anything new; otherwise, what's the point? Instead, I'll be waiting until I make the updates I have planned to work on over break and start posting more often, and then I'll post on the few sites where I have promotion threads up.

I look at those threads as something similar I'd post in a newsletter. Bullet points of new things going on at my site.
I'm guessing the ppl that have the quick updates have all those sites and threads bookmarked and they just copy and past in all of them. I'd use it to get feedback on the sites, suggest items for the future and see what others think.
