As soon as I get a personal Twitter account up and running, I'll give it a try - I'm assuming that simplicity is key, in their mind(s).
The majority of the resources (with the exception of one of them) could learn from such a design. It's clean and professional, yet it has a "friendly" feel to it. When compared to the rest listed above, it's a shining beacon of light.
Today I got a couple of new Twitter followers... who were already forum members. I hope they keep logging on to the forum, if they just watch the Twitter feed this will have backfired.

My Twitter username is TheWDBoards for my main account. I use TweetDeck which was recently acquired by Seesmic, IIRC. Twitter management is nearly a fulltime job! I've gone from ~150 followers to over 400 in about 3 1/2 weeks, but it's been a "high maintenance" deal.
