Yes, I plan to make a reference article which gives software to use for pretty much every community feature conceivable. Of course, somethings I need suggestions for:

1. Scripts people would use for guestbooks (I never liked them, but some people might)

2. Scripts for chat rooms not called FlashChat.

3. CMS systems

4. Mailing List software recommendations

And any other kind of specialist website software imaginable. Because as you can tell from my use of Oekakis, Topsites and other such software, I think it's great when people think a bit more outside the box when it comes to community software and don't just think 'CMS + blog + forum = website'.

That was unexpected... any ideas for software to add to the list? Because as you can tell, I only have a limited expertise of community software, and still need some categories added.

No. That's something I need suggestions for.

You forgot Elgg - Open Source Social Networking and Social Publishing Platform.
Its one of the major platforms.

Asides Social Networking functions PHPFox has a CMS, forum, groups, IM & shoutbox, blogs, Image gallery, groups, video directory, music system and a market place.

Did anyone notice that their home page looks exactly like vbulletin's home page?
