Since the start of vbulletin 5, we've seen little to now development in the vbulletin 4 version. Actually I couldn't find the latest release thread, I did find the 4.2 release thread which was in May of last year.. (about 10 months ago)
Do you think vBulletin is spending to much time and resources on vbulletin 5, when do you think they'll finally get back to updating vBulletin 4 which was actually going along pretty well. I like the vbulletin 4.x version right now, I'd hate to see it hit "EOL" just because vbulletin wants to push the bare-bones vbulletin 5 which is being released.

well it is there newest product....so i mean wouldn't it be fair to assume that is why they are putting so much effort into it?

How many years has vb4 been out?

I agree but I know many are hoping that development on vBulletin 4 will pick back up sometime.

I doubt it. IIRC, aside from security patches vB 3.8 development stopped once they started working on 4.

The new licensing scheme plain sucks for customers. IB has absolutely no motivation to continue working on a previous version when a new cash cow is in the works. Look at how fast they're pushing crap software through beta and RC just to rake in some cash.

They'll pump out a vB4 update within 30 days of the Gold Release of vB5.
