Hi everyone,

I recognized several IDs from XF while lurking on here, and looking at the new Minerz skin. After reading a few posts, it became clear that this is a nice site - worth time to read some more - and even register ().

The Ups & Downs of TRN
Tux Reports Network is a passion of mine. The first blog was started in 1995 - whatisnew.com. The first community was built after a huge success of Tuxreports.com. The whole network idea and sites died 2 years ago after a family death. I finally got the nerve to sit back in front of a computer, start redesigning things, learn PHP, and get back to building the network.

The site used to garner 20K unique IPs a day (unknown human vs bots) and now has about 200 daily humans visitors. One site has over 1K pageviews (eh, whatever that means). In other words, it's dead as a community. It took two plus years originally for the community to get going, as well as some contrarian views..... so there may be a few lurkers and wondering if the site is really being updated. Hopefully they'll start chattering.

Oh - and because of XF - I'm learning PHP. So if the community does not growth - eh - at least I'm having a good time.

There you have it - TRN - where penguins fly.

The Ups & Downs of Teaching
I'm a high school science teacher who loves computers. Sadly, teaching can mean long hours of preparing and grading - leaving little room during select times of the year to be online. My favorite times of the year to remodel websites are vacations - like now

What I expect here?
I'll keep my expectations in check. How about a nice little place to talk about building a community. Sound fair?
