    Guys and gals,

I've got my IPB Suite installed and I'm going to start to add some modifications once I see where I need them.

So, I wanted to get suggestions from folks.....what are the top modifications for the Invision software? I've got the Boards, Gallery and Blogs, so I'd like to have some suggestions on modifications for them that are useful and great for the members. Thoughts?

For me, IP.Content is definitely the top modification. You can create your own databases with content you want, display it, have people comment.. For example you could have an "articles" database, a "links" database.. I created an "events" database that is much more flexible than the calendar..

IP.Content sets IPB apart from the other products, IMO. You could use it to create a CMS much more complex than anything out there since you can 100% customize it to your needs, unlike something that is pre-made and locked in for you..

IP.Content seems like a very flexible option. I haven't started to research it yet, but is this a paid add-on or modification?

I cant answer your last question unfortunately myself. The only mod I can think of that seemed alright was the shout box.

IP.Content is a paid add-on, created by IPS.

They have other free add-ons like ShoutBox, Subscriptions, Converge.. Interesting stuff. The subscriptions is pretty nice too, handles subscriptions via paypal to get monthly payments, etc. I guess it depends on your forum or site, but for me there was a use for this..

They also didn't have a "database feed" and I took it upon myself to create this mod for IP.Content.. and it took me an hour or so to create it. Their code is really nicely organized and it is extremely easy to create your own add-ons, if you know php a little bit =)

Arny, I don't know how much of an issue spam is for you, but with vB I would always install Adrian's Prevent Spam add-on. It was a lifesaver because I could set up words and character strings to be checked in new members' posts. If one of the specified words appeared in a new member's post, off the the moderation queue it would go.

So I was pleased to find Automated Link Moderation for IPB. It will at least trap links from new members.

What do you want exactly? I'm pretty good at hunting down specific mods.

I can´t speak for Arny, but just for myself... A youtube-mod like video-directory or vbtube - both for vb - would be a must have within ipb for me.

vBTube is the most pointless modification in my eyes.

Alex, any particular site like vb.org for IPB mods?

I'm not sure off hand what I'd need/want, but just wanted to get an idea and start to check things out :)

I remember a reward/store system (sorry, can't remember exactly) that was quite awesome. I was on a board that used it and it was a lot of fun for the members.

boatswife, please let me know if you stumble across the info/name/site with that awards system. Sounds like it was a great way for members to interact with one another! :D

I'll holler if I find it, but right now I'm not seeing it.

It was like a separate mod. You would go into it like the arcade, then you could buy items, or a name change........It was like a bank. I didn't have it installed on my forum, so I don't have a trail to follow.

I wanted a custom sidebar modification. But, the ones that I'm finding are all paid mods. Anyone know of a free one out there that does the job?

Dietmar, that's the one that I was looking at, but it's $30. I'm looking for a free alternative. :)
