Do you have a blogging system installed on your forum (like vBlog or IP.Blog) to allow members to have their own personal blog?

I've been considering using them on my forum for a long time now, but with vBlog in particular, I see that they are rarely ever actively used on a site. A webmaster site that I visit has vBlog installed and just about nobody uses it. If webmasters don't use it, how can I expect computer-illiterate users to?

The reason I really want to install it is because my members create breeding journals, for example - and the threaded interface gets extremely messy. It's hard for somebody who hasn't been following along to jump in and find all of the journal's updates (because each entry is buried between hundreds of viewer comments - all in the post format). I think blogs would be a much more organized format, but I fear that my members wouldn't use it. I mentioned the idea to them and they have even expressed their unwillingness to try something new because they "have their ways" and "don't want to learn something new."

What have your experiences been with a blog system?

I have one installed on my petite clothing forum... it hasn't got a lot of use, but I'm hopeful that someday members will start posting pictures of their favorite outfits or finds.

Ours has been worth buying the vb blogs licence. Members seem to keep theirs up to date and enjoy posting one now and then. I personally dont use it. I think the social groups need more work as well as the blogs, something more wordpress like for the blogs would be a huge improvement :)

We installed one about three years ago, it got used for about a month or two, then just died away. Eventually it was removed.

I've installed the vBBlog on RHM, but don't expect that it'll get used until traffic/membership increases dramatically.

That is why I have not installed one on my main forum. I see all too often where admins install a blog, its used a little, then fades away.

I can not justify spending the money on VB blog, and it not be used.

I have vBlog and it doesn't get much use. I think it would be better if I could get more attention from the forum area. It's on the table whether I'm going to keep it or not?

I think the issue is that vBlog is so secluded and not connected with the forum. It takes a trip across the Sahara desert in order to find the blog on a forum. If it were integrated much tighter, I think it would do better.

I believe there's a mod to put the title of the user's latest blog entry into the postbit, but that should be a standard option.

I have indeed implemented a blogging feature for members to utilize, but in all honestly, it never saw any use. Sure - there were a few individuals here and there that would post entries every now and then, but they were in the minority.

I have never used vBlog, but I think I am going to get a license for my next forum. I want to somehow integrate them more than they already are. And possibly have a section of my own blog go straight to the announcement forum.
