Whats your thoughts on vB4? I'd say its ok, but it has alot of bugs... and the members at vbulletin.com express their feelings on it, and arent very happy with the development team. vBulletin 3 was good.

Yes 3.8.6 has a major exploit actually, if anyone running it arent patched they are doomed. And the reason its failing because their former lead developer Kier, and developer mike quit, both now work on xenForo which tell you exactly why its failing. xenForo is a big win.

Every software has tons of bugs. That's to be expected when it first comes out. I like vB 4 and it will be top notch in a month or two.

It shouldnt have that many bugs because the devs said other wise, and its been out for a while now and still the devs arent listening to their customers.

I foolishly purchased it and I still have not used it. Its definitely the worst version of vBulletin ever. When I buy something I expect it to work as intended. I never settle for sub-par quality.

But having a huge bug that allows them to get the Admin's username and password? And on vBulletin too, used by A LOT of users?

On topic - Personally vB4 sucked, Wasn't it supposed to be a whole rewrite but IB denied Kier and Mike to do it? I also heard vB5 is going to be complete rewrite ... Yea right.

vb5 will probably be worse lol. Yea its sad how 3.8.6 would have a exploit like that. Anyways vB is dead. Its xenForo now :)

Just watch in vB5 they copy xenforo's design (Not much but alittle) and keep the same code, add a few new things, add some bugs and call it done.

Anyways i wish i could get a xenforo. It's just so much :P

I may have upgraded last April to vb4 because my license expired but as soon as the money clears, I will no longer be a vb owner. I've been unhappy with the product since 4.0 was released and it's still buggier than anything I've seen.

They can't even keep their private vbulletin testing/beta's hidden, although it doesn't show much.

One week was all they thought they had to take to Beta 4.1. Very nice.

And now, you are already in Patch Level 2 in a matter of days when really those bugs should've been squashed in Beta.

I foolishly upgraded to VB4 when it came out (although thankfully I did skip the first few versions). And tbh I do and I don't regret it. We've managed to sort most of the issues out that we had, our users have got used to it for the majority, although if I had the time over again I would prob have just stayed on vb3.8.

We will prob stay on our current version of 4.x until there is something worthwhile to upgrade for as 4.1 was a huge disappointment

Liked 3.8 and 4.1 doesn't rub the same way.

I can honestly say the new iPhone app is not worth it, considering the IPS app is free and all you have to do on your part is enable it on your forum.
