staff meetings

how often do the staff of your forum ever get together to chat about things? usually me and the other admin chat every day, and if there is a problem on the forums we will mention it to eachother and think of how to solve it.
if there is a big problem, normally the mod online will text or email the main admin, she will log on, call up the others and then we will all discuss things together. our meetings are rarely planned, they just sort of happen

what is your staff section like? we have a main staff room, where there is a few threads, on how to deal with trolls, what is expected of mods, and anything that needs to be said when no other staff are online. then theres a sub forum for contact form submissions. whenever someone clicks the contact us button at the bottom of the forum, and fills the form in, a thread is created in that sub forum, where staff can discuss it

 

I have a hidden section for all of my mods and support team. Then i have a section just for me and my super-mod.

We've only had one meeting on google to figure out a problem. Other than that, we all have each others phone numbers so if sumthing comes up that needs a higher up/whatever, then I/we can be reached.

 

We don't have regular meetings, although I think it'd be very productive if we did. We are in a state of dormancy at this time, so there isn't too much going on to discuss though.

Here on AA, we only have one moderator and one reviewer, so we don't exactly have a large staff team. When we do have a nice-sized team of various moderators and positions, I'd love to have regular meetings to discuss ongoing projects as well as future planning. The meetings would include reviewers, moderators, administrators, contributors (who work on certain aspects of the site), etc.

About 1/quarter. Might change depending on current events of the time.


how do you chat?

Communications range from chat, Wave, to Voice Server. This covers some pre-discussion topics, to roll up to an agenda, to then converse via Voice on Teamspeak, for example. Very very useful. So many things can go differently over a voice convo relative to a mere chat convo, all for the better.


what is your staff section like?

Private, invisible category w/ various forums in it. A general forum, a Poll forum, closed topics forum, and archives.

 

id love it if my staff could have some way of chatting through voice! i just love one of my co-admins accents, such a sexy voice

although then we have no way of remembering what was said, on msn we always save the conversations if anything important is mentioned!

 

Teamspeak, you can record the convos. Keep them for archive and do distributions for those that could not attend.

Btw, Teamspeak and other voice software is free. You can even host locally for some, if you know what you are doing.
