I guess by looking at a lot of forums, now is one of those quiet times of year.

How is everyone else doing and do you take advantage of these periods doing behind the scenes forum things or post lots of threads or both?

Yeah, things are pretty quiet at this time. It's like this every year.

On our forum we are always having contests, competitions and other fun events for the members. It's what makes our community fun and enjoyable.
So to help overcome the Summer-downer, we try to plan special events during the summer. We have one huge competition that we would run only once or twice per year -- and I think we are going to be running it sometime soon.

My advice is to just keep things interesting. Try new things, have fun, and make the community intriguing for your members. :)

Moved to Planning & Creating Interest.

A lot of people travel during the summer, so you might announce (or encourage others to announce) where they're heading so you can arrange to meet up for coffee, sightseeing, night on the town, etc. This would not only explain a member's absence but show visitors your community is friendly.

Summer time is always slow. Its a good time to take care of forum upgrades, get some blogs posted, install that new modification,,,,

My website was going fine with many new posts etc every day at one point I was up to 3000 members and over 30k posts/threads and then some idiot hacked my website and domain and changed where my whole domain was pointing and it took me two days to sort it all out and since then my site has struggled and am seriously thinking whether it is worth the continue to struggle.
