I will be purchasing hosting through HostGator in the next week or two, and I noticed in Nick's signature that we can support AdminAddict buy purchasing from the vendors that sponsor AdminAddict.

Because we are buying from a vendor that affiliates with AdminAddict, with the purchase, do we get a premium account? Ultimately, we are supporting AdminAddict...

    Thanks

It would be cool! I mean, you purchase from their affiliate and get nothing in return? :uhh:

I suppose that something like this could be initiated. We'd have to carefully monitor which IP addresses are used to purchase through our affiliate links, which could prove to be a bit difficult (but not impossible). We'd also have to work out a method in which would be used to determine which premium membership package each member would receive, depending on the package/service purchased through our affiliates.

    Further thoughts?

    Howdy!

I would ask if the return on the affiliate product is the same as the straight donation for the premium membership. Is the dollar amount earned by AA roughly the same? Is there anything to be said for those that donate directly without the intention of getting something in return (i.e. a product that they were going to buy anyway)? Also, do you have any plans for offering "Premium Members" perks that others don't automatically get?

I would just caution to make sure you aren't mixing apples and oranges. I'm not saying that it is a bad idea, I'm just taking a step back to make sure the suggestion is thought through and is in line with the community strategy from the long term perspective.

No further thoughts here, but what you mentioned, makes sense.

Good point, say if you're hosting total comes to 23.16 (like mine did), would you get seventh months and say, 8 days?

In my opinion, it's easier if we don't mix the apples and oranges as RR put it. If you're interested in directly supporting AdminAddict, a Premium Membership subscription is best. If you are in a mood to "help out" at absolutely no expense to you, feel free to use our affiliate links to make purchases that you would make anyways.

Purchasing through our affiliate links is just a generous deed, and can be done at no expense to you, as mentioned... as such, a Premium Membership may not be totally deserved.
