Need fresh eyes for this

Pick it apart. My eyes can't make out differences after a while of looking at these ate high resolutions.

Looks good, though i think the smallest one has too much shadow/glow/blur, it looks a bit glowy and blurry to me.

And the 2nd one from the left seems boxed on the sides, though that might just be me.

 

Ok, how about the ones I just added? I fixed the blurryness, I hope I did. :lol:

It still looks like the 2nd largest is more straight then rounded..We need another pair of eyes...

 

The smallest icon still looks blurry alex. When you re-sized the small one did you also alter the blending modes to match the new sizes?

Edit: BTW nice work in adding the string inside the preserver. This really brings the whole thing out nicely. Really nice touch. The small things always have the biggest effect. I wish IB adopted this mindset. Again, Nice work. As always.

 

The 16x16 one is a bit too dark, the white turned redish-gray(second set). The outline seems strange to me, a bit jagged? You can't really see the shine on the top red thingy well and I think the red is a bit flat on the largest one. Dunno, the stroke around the circle just seems strange...

 

Updated, fixed what I could. The problem with the 16x16 is that it just blurs too easily. I could get rid of the glow, but then it looks naked.


Edit: I had to edit this post twice now, because it seems AA is having a fit with me posting.

 

I think I know what's causing the blurring. If you can post the smallest icon with the string inside and one without at the smallest size. I think the eyes focus on the string which gives the impression of blurring.

yeah. That was the one i WAS LOOKING AT (damn caps) Maybe you can contract the inner ring in a little so the tube is a little thicker? See how that looks.

I'm not understanding, it was close to the outline as well. Do you mean enhance the overall stroke for the entire tube?

And I just realized I forgot the freehand strokes to make it look more realistic. Going to start over with 64x64 tomorrow and recreate most details on each one by hand.
