Link exchanges and the SE's

    Do the SE's give any sites credit that are interlinked at all? I have always thought that in terms of SEO if anything interlinked sites dont help if theyre both linking mutually.

    Its still a backlink and backlinks are good.

    though two site link exchanges aren't that effective, this is why you'll see people do three way link swaps.

    Site A gets a link on site B and in return Site C gets a link on Site A

    So effectively theyre all connected and the SE will follow a to b to c.

    As long as you limit the number of link exchanges, and make sure you link to quality sites (not viagra spam), and do not do excessive link exchanges - you will get some benefit from from them.

    Go to google and do a search for "link scheme", or look through the google webmaster guidleines. They have a good write up about exchanging links.
