If you had to choose the Least Favourite Forum Software, which one would it be, and why?
PunBB, It just seems too simple and not very attracting.
Out of the ones I have used, I would choose SMF, cant stand it. They have been stuck in beta/rc forever.. there development is real slow. They will probably end up dieing.
I hate PHPBB, looks horrid
Elaborate more? Looks are not important, I saw some very nice themes.
Its not just the looks the admin panel aswell, the forum itself is crap..
Was not mean't to be anything but. It was designed to be light weight and fast without all the garbage that most forum software comes with.....I agree with Joker about Phpbb and also I would add that they are serious security risk with it. But there are others out there that are never mentioned such as Yabb, AEF which is fast becoming a very popular forum ware. It all comes down to personal choice its what you like. A lot of kids cannot afford the paid software, hell a lot of adults cannot either. Oh and my least favorite would have to be Phpbb, then SMF and Mybb...............and speaking of Punbb this site is run on it:
I have never heard of PunBB. The main forum systems I have used are PhpBB, Conforums & Suddenlauch systems. I have had some experience with Excoboards. It all depends on the host I am using as to weither or not I like it. I would have to say I had more trouble with PhpBB than the others, but for some reason, I never liked Excoboards. I really don't have a good reason, I just don't like them.
I never heard of Excoboards or Conforums or Suddenslah lol.
Those are free forum host. Gotta agree I never cared much for Excoboard either....
No phpbb haters guys, it's a great software. I think that MyBB is my least favorite. That or SMF. They both look and feel like crap.
We all have our preferences lol, I find MyBB to be the best free forum software because of its wide range of mods, and themes... and phpbb has nice themes, and is much more stable. Just my opinion. Both are great, but I can agree on SMF being downright ugly.
Haha yeah, but Phpbb has great mods and support and whatnot, so yeah.
In my opinion, I'd choose phpBB. Permissions were confusing to configure, styles don't really look good, lots of bugs, time consuming to install mods. Just isn't my cup of tea.
Yea its just so complicated, but I know the acp inside out as phpbb was the first script I ever used.
My least favorite forum software would probably be PunBB. There's nothing special about it, it's just straight up simple. It's great for load time, I suppose. People with slow computers probably love PunBB.
Yea PunBB is not even in the scene, people barely know what it is... I see a forum once in a while using punbb or fluxbb.
PhpBB3 or smf.
For me it's probably SMF, I hate the overall design of it and the lack of themes and modifications for the software. Also there isn't many custom style developers either, which make it hard for people to run a decent site on the software.
And the fact they have been in Beta/RC for like 3 or 4 years... thats as bad as it gets. It took xenforo (only a team of 2 developers) Just 1 year to make xenforo stable.
