I am staying with myBB

Hello,

I have over three years have been Administrator of phpbb2 and phpbb3,SMF and now myBB.

This is the only free forum software (myBB) that meets what I wanted that I have direct administrative experience with.There may indeed be a better one out there for me.But why keep looking when I have found what I wanted?

Does that mean it is better in every way over the others?

No,but it delivers in areas that are most important to ME.

I do miss the easy upload of mods from the admin panel in SMF,that puts other software to shame.

I do miss being able to create exact permissions set up in phpBB3 (but I hated it too! )

I do NOT miss the ugly SMF themes.

I do NOT miss the bloat that phpBB3 is.

I know that myBB could use some changes too,but I like the DEFAULT set up that does most if not all that is really needed for a small forum like mine.

Because of staying with a chosen software for the long term,I can now consider the additional expense that are needed to make it be special to me and for visitors who want to read about Global Warming issues.

I see that vBULLETIN is a very popular software here among the members and is the chosen software for this forum.But it would never make sense for me to spend a lot of money for me to run a tiny if active forum with.

Thus I am now at home with myBB for the long term.
