I have a member who has their signature to an Amazon affiliate link, and has now made a couple of recommendations of things with an amazon affiliate link. His posts are pretty good in terms of content

But he's trying to do it covertly with a tiny url.

Part of me feels it is wrong and I should do something about it. The other part says he's not going to make a dime and isn't taking anything away from me.

I'd have no problem if he were linking to his own site or a company he owned.

    What say you???

I'd say for now just keep close eye on it. Like you say, he'll make nothing worth shouting about from it. So just see how much further he takes it, and if it gets to the point were something needs to be said. Deal with it in private telling him that you don't mind the odd punt to make a buck from Amazon, but won't tolerate out and out spamming of it in posts.

Trouble is though, where do you draw the line if you allow it? And your opening the door for all your other members to do it also - if you allow him/her to continue doing it.

Personally, I would limit it to signatures only, I'd have no issue with that. But not allowed it in posts themselves, your just inviting spamming doing that.

i dont allow people to post links to their own forums and stuff in posts, but i allow it in signatures.

send them a pm telling them that they can have a link in their signature, but they cant keep posting the link all over the forum in posts

We don't allow people to advertise anything for which they make revenue.
