On my main site I have two main templates... one pretty graphical, another with minimal graphics. Then there's the template for mobile phone users, holiday versions of the main templates, and a super graphical one I'm still working on that no one can see yet. How many templates do you have for the users to choose from?
I only have one template at the time. Don't really like when you can choose what design on the site should be.
I usually only offer one skin/style for the members to choose from. Here we have a variation of our main skin which excludes the sidebar. We also have a mobile version here.
Most of the time, I stick with only 1 template. But if I am really trying to impress my members, I will get 2.
We have the main one which is the original one (with templates updated to the current version, of course). Then we have two variations on that one - one with rotating banners from the members, one with no banner. We also have two from previous April Fool's day jokes. Oh, and a mobile one.
Wow, I guess I figured everyone else would be template-happy too (well, that isn't on all of my forums, just the busiest one.)
Setsou has a variety of four different customized skins where Bird is the Word only has one skin to use.
Just one. However, it is designed to exactly match the main site - having any more than one would break that consistency. There's one other that's hidden - just the old theme that the current theme replaced. They're both pretty similar, though, as the current theme is really just an update to the old one (though I started fresh).
I had 40+ but had enough of updating them (some graphical) now I opt for one minimalistic style. During the early stages of vbulletin I would go out all graphical extensive but soon learned that lesson eventually.
