How Many Smilies do you Have?

I think smilies are a big part of an online community, and they can make things more personable and fun. Share with us how many smilies you have on your forum for your members to use.

Feel free to post some of your favorite smilies in here, as well.

 

We have about 80 Smilies on my forum

 

hum...not enough, I got about 30 extras on top of the standard smiley pack. I need to find some more for the site but most of the ones I find doesn't look good on the dark back ground.

 

I have just under 300: 296.

 

Now it doesn't count adding up all the emoticons from multiple sites :p

Hard to say, 10,000+ custom smilies I designed and I'm being generous it's probably double that as most have not been released.

Though I use around 50 on my forum.

 

We use about 120-125 right now. I've got another 20 or so to add that I've picked up. So, we'll settle around 150 or so when all is said in done...for now

 

24 custom smilies at Setsou Design and the standard pack over at Bird is the Word.

 

I had a friend who ran a forum for years that had 1,000 smileys on his forum. :lol: I try and keep it under 150 usually.

 

Thought we had too many, 25.



It is not the number of them, but the ones that the admin has chosen that is yet another indicator of the atmosphere of the site. AA has a nice selection of them, and are of a positive nature, certainly no 'in your face' screw you type smilies.

I've seem some really bad ones, I'm sure we all have.


I keep checking on one site and this is the most positive smilie The rest are all negative as are many of the discussions.

I have a collection of about 400+ smilies. A few I have designed for personal use, most are collected from smiley sites. As you probably can tell already, I can hardly make a post without a smiley.

Last time I replied to a thread like this I had around 10,000. it's around 30+ thousand nowadays with many hundreds incomplete sets that bring it up to 40 thousand. All my own designs.

I use around 100 smilies though spanned on two forums.

edit I did a count on my smiley folder 37, 672 smilies is the exact number.

 

I have a few hundred. Not quite at a thousand yet, but a lot, and many of them are custom.

As for Shelley... jeez, that's a lot of smilies. Does the smily select page take like 2 hours to load when your forum members view it?

 

That count are smilies (custom) on my hardrive and not applied on my forum(s) Altogether on vbimageworks I have about 50 and on my other site 48 though that will increase to 60 and possibly 30 more over a couple of weeks.

I think applying thousands on a site is a little overkill though unless you can manage to categorize them and have groups select them via another page to keep loading times down. It's all too easily to get carried away adding smilies and the realize you have applied hundreds you didn't really need.

I have several thousand more on another hardrive I located. They seem to be everywhere.

 

To be fair, it wouldn't be such a problem adding smilies if the more common brands of forum software actually split the smily select pages into categories rather than all in one enormous list. But still.

 

We are in the 101-200 group and I think it is more because I am the addict.

And also I love collecting as many of the "nana" smilies as I can, although some cannot go on our forum because they are not PG-13.

 

We have 113 right now. I add new ones if a user asks nicely and other users second the motion.
