How long did it take you to master being an admin?

Me it took a few years. I am still learning aswell. How about you?

 

I love the fact that you can never 'master' anything on the web. New software comes out and changes are made. You're always learning.

 

took me around 6 months to get the admin basics down. I'm still learning advance stuff.

 

Master? I don't think I can be a master at being an admin as you have to adapt to each situation as it arises.. it is ever changing.. but I will say that with each forum that I've had, it had gotten easier.. because I had the previous experience to draw upon..

 

not much i ran a few forums with much sucess running a forum is basically luck

 

I don't think I could ever master it 100%, I like to think I'm quite good though! It's taken me a couple of years and the trick is be willing to learn.

 

Ive been doing forums for about 5 years now and i learn new things still as forums are always being upgraded with new features. I don't think you could master a forums.

 

I agree with others: you can never master it.
the basic of being an admin can be learned in hours or days, but the professionalism of being an admin is something very hard to gain. it takes lots of time -- some years, maybe -- to know how to deal with different kinds of members and how to take decisions about things from a very small detail to a huge issue.
