How does this skin look for DigitalAspie.com?

It's the vbSEO theme and the only free one that looks halfway decent. I guess I'm going to have to shell out some cash for a nice, decent looking one. Using this theme shouldn't be a problem as long as I leave the copyright in tact right?

Anyways, I've modified the logo, removed the bullseye image and some other things.

I agree that the default skin is ugly, but you won't get in trouble for using it; that's what it's there for. VB provides it so even forums without custom skins will at least look halfway decent.

I like the colors and everything on it LOL. At least til I buy a custom skin. I'm making some user rank images now, so yay XD.

It looks really nice! I would get some post indicators made, a more techie banner and that's about it.

I would also change the colors to match the header image.

 

Just throw up some custom status icons. Its the skin I use over at Nintendo Forums as well.

I've got pretty much most of the skin stuff done for it. I just need to find someone who doesn't charge as much for a decent logo now lol.

It is definitely the best that you have installed. I have never been a fan of the vB layout or the way that its skins look. But, this is better then the rest that you have!

As for skinning, I used finalprestige.net for my skin, but I think they are IP.Board only. I suggest that you submit a request for someone to do work for a decent price. I only paid $68 for my skin that was easily worth $100 or more.

 

I've got the spam prevention up and finished the skin options and all. Forum permissions are done. What else should I make sure I have done before I start promoting it?

Also, does vB have a trash can feature where deleted posts go into a 'trash can' forum?

 

Should I buy some paid posting you think? I'm thinking of using Post Place and getting their trial package just to see how well it goes with 10 posts. Only $4 lol.

Then, would it be wise to do that for about say 100 posts to get it going?

 

I'd never buy paid posting, I think it's useless and pointless.

 

Add a favicon for easy navigation once people start bookmarking your site. vBulletin does have a trash can/archive feature. It's only a matter of setting up an extra forum, right?

Post Place is great - but I'd want everything to be organic, especially for a community you have - paid posters wouldn't know what it is to have Asperger's Syndrome.

 

To be perfectly honest, I'd stay away from paid posting services. Sure; the results may be worth it in the short run, but in the long run, it's not a viable option - you'd be compensating outside individuals to contribute a large amount of activity to your community rather than 'earning' this the correct way.

This is my view on such services, of course. I prefer to go natural all the way... without help from outside services.

Glad to hear it! Yet another reason to stay away from such services is the quality of the posts contributed - they generally have little to no knowledge of the subject matter at hand and, as such, assist the community in no way whatsoever.

 

Now, I just need some advice on promoting it lol. That's the part I'm horrible at. I do have it posting new threads to my twitter account and have gotten like 6 new followers in just a few horus.

How would adding an RSS Import forum where it brings in various topics related to my subject for people to discuss? Would that be a good idea or what?

 

Doing so would increase the chance of unique discussion and nearly eliminate discussion that is random and/or unnecessary - or, in other words, you'd more than likely attract more of the crowd desired (i.e. those that can bring relevant content and activity to the table). If you were to not use RSS feeds, the members would be left to spark the discussion themselves.
