How do you organize your files?

What kind of directory structure do you have on your local hard drive for your forum sites, especially if you have multiple sites? Do you keep each site's forum files in separate "upload" directories, in case you've modded any of the core files, or do you have one copy of the forum software that you just upload to the site as needed? Where do you keep the source files for images?

 

I have a folder on my hard drive for each site - and they are in the root of the drive. I guess I need to move them into a websites folder or something.

Under each sites folder is a database backup folder, where the databases are downloaded to. Each file has a date that it was downloaded.

Then there are dated folders where I might download the entire html folder.

Frameworks are all the files needed to get a new site up and running. This includes all common plugins, graphics, theme frameworks that I use for those web applications.

Projects are a backup of each live site's files and databases.

Assets Library holds anything I might ever want to use in a website including stock photography and other items. These can be used interchangeably with any website.

Apps Library is full of zipped copies of the raw applications. In the case of vBulletin a copy of every version going back to 2.3.9. Each one has sub-directories for plugins, addons, themes, etc... that are specific to that application.

workzone is a like a scratch pad where I try things with static HTML or isolated PHP scripts as needed to get something working.

The entire wwwroot directory is backed up nightly to Mozy.com
