Ok due to something I am currently going through, and as a new user of vbulletin it is really annoying, but I thought I would ask whether you have ever been scammed - either out of some sort of license, work or cash.

To tell you my story I was looking around a number of my competitors website and saw that they had a Fantasy Sport Script (Fantasy Cricket to be exact) and I looked and it was made by a guy called Adrian.

I searched around the internet and saw that he was an avid poster on vb.org under the name SirAdrian, and had made numerous mods etc and looked to be an active member over there.

So I made contact with him and he stated it would cost $150USD for me to have the script installed for my sports website, so to help me get the cash together I sold off one of my vBulletin owned licenses which came with Branding Free and the Blog addon.

I then double checked what people were saying about SirAdrian on vB.org and it was all positive so I sent him the money.

That was April 22nd 2009, he installed the script but it did not work on vb3.8 so he took it off saying there were changes he needed to make to it - and I haven't heard from him again.

Everytime I ask about the script or anything there is another excuse or he says it will be up within the next 24 hours, or something like that and it never eventuates.

He no longer speaks on MSN or replies to emails - he hasn't blocked me from MSN he just sits there appearing Online and yet doesn't say thing!

It is getting annoying and I was wondering if anyone had been through anything simular - and what you did to resolve the issue? Just want to hear your experiences so I don't feel so bad.

I have, many times. https://www.trafficrack.com/cart/ Is one that promised something and didn't come trough, no visitor at all, when on their stats it said I DID have visitors. Also, Alexander from some other place :P, used a banner I made for him, he was supposedly going to pay the one he liked, but he never came back until a couple of days ago, but my banner was up right after I posted it [this was around December].

    Yes, I have been scammed.

Like Fullmetalbabe, Traffic Rank scammed me. I paid for the 1,000 Targeted Unique visitors and didn't get 500.

I also did graphic work for somebody at "ahem" (T...A...Z) and didn't receive the payment.

So yes, I have been scammed a few times.

To resolve the issues, I contacted Traffic Rank, and they gave me a partial refund. The people who requested the graphic; well, I just let it go.

It was only a $5 deal, any way.

Yeah, it gets annoying - like don't get me wrong I understand that there can be delays such as work commitments, family commitments etc etc, but for me in a way I have paid you for coding to be done and should deserve the 15mins he claimed it would take to fix up the issues.

The thing that annoys me the most is I have the script sitting on my hard drive with the product/plugin code and all that could be uploaded and installed straight away, but it doesn't quite work with vb3.8 and none of my coding mates want to touch it as it's not their work.

The most frustrating part is when he sits online, and you see him drift away, then busy then back online and yet doesn't say boo to you.

    Yes, partial.

Afterall, I did get some visitors. Had I not, I would have asked for the whole refund.

Oh great, thanks! I can't wait to see some of your posts; thanks again.

Also, I agree. Plus, it's bad to be ripped off after paying the money.

I haven't been scammed online yet; that political forum wasn't quite as expected, but I did get a halfways decent database out of the deal.

My first webhost scammed me. Turned to be some kid of 14 years with some cheap server in America. On some day he decided to quit being a webhost. Result: all data deleted and domain got unregistered.

Money wasn't the issue for me with €1 per month and free domain. And I had back-up for all data. No, what pissed me of was that some advertisement company immediately bought my domain after it was unregistered.

The kid was not traceable as far as I was aware of and I didn't feel much to continue the conflict. I choose a well-known webhost to continue my site and I bought a new domain with another extension. A year later my old domain was available for sale again, bought it and since then I got it redirected to the newer domain.

    Lesson learned. Quality > quantity.

Yikes, that's bad. I've set up sites for many people who simply do not listen when I explain how to manage their domain name. Then they come to me all upset when someone takes it and they expect me to get it back for them. But that's terrible how your "host" managed to lose your domain name. Never let your host own your domain name!

Even tho I am a host and I offer domains I don't recommend it as many hosts either will do something like that or they will end up holding your domain and making you pay to get it from them. Now i personally charge a $1 fee to get it from me but that's just a processing fee cause i have to remove it from my system and what not.

Sucks that you have been scammed like that. I was scammed once but not by a host it was somebody on a freelance forum selling a script that was quite well known, and he had a good reputation and stuff but i found out later his account had gotten hacked so I sent the dude his money and he sent me the script which wasn't really a script it was a bunch of files with virus's for that guy to get into my computer and try and get more of my stuff.
