Is the Admin Zone getting desperate for members to sign-up or what lately? I don't go there much at all, even though it's one of the larger and more used Admin Niche sites around. But I've noticed when visiting the forum for a read past few days, the site is limiting guest access very heavy to view read using that mod thing.

Think I viewed like 1 or 2 pages before blocked and asked to login or sign up. Seems a bit OTT that to me.

Also, don't they realise that mod doesn't work proper anyhow. All you need do is clear all cookies stored for Admin Zone and you can view again as a guest.

Always been like that. I don't visit it very often and haven't posted there since I resigned as an admin. I didn't agree with many of the policies they have about competing sites and such. Although Howard must have relaxed on that a bit since a competing site owner is now the head admin there.

I presume you mean Lisa from Admin Extra? Yes, I was surprised to see her back as admin again. When I did used to talk to her in twitter a bit, she told me once she'd never staff there again, hmmm. So not sure what's made her do a u-turn on that one?

If she changes her mind anymore, I may have to start calling her: Mark.B. :giggle:

But seriously, joking aside. I was surprised to see her back as admin there. Especially when it's a competing forum to her own. But it can work both ways though, she could gain members anyhow by being admin at another larger forum covering the same niche. There can be method in doing that.

Same thing really, as like when Floris was staff at vBulletin. He used that moderator position to get forum members and worked somewhat for him at one point.

Howard would never allow it in the past. He removed staff that owned or were staff at any type of webmaster/admin type forum.

Well a lot has changed with forums over the years, they are not as active like they once was. So who knows, he might be thinking along the same lines. That Lisa working there as staff might tempt some of her forum members and friends more into posting at TAZ. Swings both ways really, and TAZ has been suffering from lack of actively compared to years ago. I'd guess that's why Howard has become more relaxed, not much choice really if he wants posters.

Floris, closed his forum for a few months then brought it back again in Archive Mode. But that didn't last long before he took it down for good. He also asked Kier on XenForo to delete his account if I'm correct, which was removed. Since, nobody has seen much of him really, looks like he really did throw the towel for good, and not just running a forum. But think he still uses Twitter mainly. Not sure, I don't own a twitter anymore and never read out on it either now, haven't done for many months.

Haven't been there to post in a while, gotta admit. The forum is still THE MOST active in the niche. We can barely get 50-60% of their monthly post count, which is not bad for a 7 month forum, but still, they're light years ahead. I'll always have a warm spot in my heart for that forum though, it's been a great community and I personally enjoy it even now, even if I am not as active I used to (because of work committments, no other reasons). Anyway .. limiting guest view is not smart IMO. It's important to give your visitors the chance to see your amazing content (and they still have some excellent content). They'd register anyway, since it's still the leading site in the niche ...
